Petition Launched for a Darton Lane Crossing.
Cllr Leyla Nayeri calls for better road safety following reports of near misses.

This issue has been raised with us repeatedly. Darton Lane is a busy road where traffic often travels far too fast. It is also a key route for children and parents walking to Darton Primary School, residents accessing local shops and businesses, and people choosing to walk, cycle or use other forms of active travel.
Leyla commented “Currently, crossing the road can feel dangerous especially for families, older residents and those with mobility issues. That’s why I’m campaigning for Barnsley Council to install a safe pedestrian crossing on Darton Lane. A properly designed crossing would:
● Make journeys to and from school safer
● Support local businesses by improving footfall
● Encourage walking and active travel
● Help slow traffic and improve safety for everyone
Despite repeated concerns from residents, Labour-run Barnsley Council has failed to take meaningful action on road safety in our area. I believe Darton East deserves better and with enough local support, we can make the council to listen.”
How can you help? We are asking residents to sign our petition calling for a pedestrian crossing on Darton Lane. You can do this in three easy ways:

● Paper copies available at Darton Primary School
● Directly by contacting Leyla on 01226 774463 or by email cllrleylanayeri@barnsley.gov.uk
