Barnsley deserves a council that puts local people first. We are committed to delivering practical improvements that make a real difference to everyday life: providing more and better-managed social housing, protecting our green spaces and communities, tackling fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour, investing in safer roads, empowering local decision-making, and supporting the growth of a strong local economy with well-paid jobs.
This manifesto sets out our priorities for building a cleaner, safer and more prosperous Barnsley for everyone.
WE WILL IMPROVE THE PROVISION OF SOCIAL HOUSING
In the past we lowered district heating charges so our most vulnerable wouldn't have to choose between heating and eating. We stand for increased accountability and targets for Berneslai Homes occupancy reducing the blight of void properties.
WE WILL REVIEW THE LOCAL PLAN TO MANAGE FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
Our infra-structure communities and greenspaces will be protected
WE WILL CHERISH AND CARE FOR OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS
Addressing Fly-tipping and ASB will be priorities as allocate resources and work with enforcement agencies
WE WILL EMPOWER OUR COMMUNITIES
We will campaign for more money and effective decision making devolved to Area Councils.
WE WILL MAKE OUR ROADS SAFER
Barnsley and Penistone Lib Dems put children first. We campaigned 20mph zones outside schools and they were implemented. We want to see more investment in road quality, safety and enforcement
WE WILL GROW OUR LOCAL ECONOMY
We have previously won an extra £500k investment in local areas and we stand for well paid jobs at the heart of a long-term economic plan for Barnsley.
